Dr. Celeste E. Williams discovered through the many roles of her life, as daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, friend, student, educator, and as physician that one’s power and capabilities are limitless when a healthy spirit, body, and environment work together in harmony. Helping others to achieve this collaboration has been the philosophy of her work.
Adinkra is the symbolic language of the Akan of West Africa. It’s beauty is immediate and its message is universally relevant. Adinkra first captivated Dr. Williams’ attention as a child growing up in Brooklyn, NY. Her elders pointed out its legacy and meaning of the symbols as depicted in wrought iron architecture as well as those symbols printed on traditional cloth. The simple elegance and poignant translation of the symbols have continued to resonate throughout her life.
